    • Microsoft Security Essentials
      Microsoft Security Essentials is the free anti-malware software that I use on my systems and the one that I recommend to my clients.
    • Windows Defender Offline
      This is a downloadable anti-malware utility that creates a bootable disc for removing malware. This is not a replacement for your existing anti-malware software. Use this utility when you can not boot your computer due to malware infection.
    • ESET Online Virus Scan & Removal Tools
      ESET provides online malware scanner and virus removal tools. If you think you have a virus and don't have an anti-malware program installed or think that yours has missed something give these tools a try.
    • Dropbox
      Online backup service. Cost based on amount of data backed up. Up to 2GB free.
    • Carbonite
      Online backup service. Unlimited backup for yearly fee.

    • Windows Live
      Great free software and services from Microsoft that include Office Web Apps and Essentials.
    • Microsoft Answers
      Microsoft forum focused on average users. Find answers to questions about Windows, Office, Security Essentials and more.
    • Paul Thurrott's SuperSite for Windows
      Paul is a technology journalist with a focus on covering Microsoft.

    • The Typical Mac User Podcast
      This is a great resource for anyone wanting to get more out of their Mac. The audio podcast covers a wide range of topics including things like iTunes, iPhoto, OS X, and just about anything Mac-related. Very end-user friendly!
    • TwelveSouth
      Hands down, these guys make the most elegant and tasteful Mac accessories out there. Check out the BookBook protective cases for MacBooks and iPads - simply beautiful.

      Great site for keeping up with everything Apple.

      A parent's resource for movie, TV, video game and book reviews.
    • Qimo 4 Kids
      A linux operating system for kids 3 and up. (CAUTION: You will need to know how to install a linux OS to use this.)
