Another Tech Blog?!?
Friday, August 20, 2010 at 10:17AM Welcome to the Main Street Technology blog. Does the Internet really need another tech blog you ask? I think the answer is yes, otherwise why would I be writing this? However, I plan on making this tech blog a little different. My focus here will be on providing information aimed at small business and the average user in plain, easy to understand language.
I have been working with clients, family and friends for over 15 years and awhile back something dawned on me that I don’t think a lot of tech folks get – most of the world doesn’t “speak geek” and they don’t want to “speak geek'’, they just want their computers to work so they can go on about their lives. However, while you don’t need to know all the ins and outs of computer technology there is a certain amount that you do need to know to keep your computer working properly. And that’s where this blog comes in.
There are a thousand and one “geek news” sites out there and I read quite a few of those. And there are is an amazing amount of information that can benefit small business or the home user. But unless you work in technology you might as well be reading a foreign language. I will filter out the “geek speak” and provide just the information you need to make informed choices on the technology you use everyday. The articles I will be posting here include technology news, tips and how-to articles, security news, tech industry news and products reviews. I want to help you use your computer more efficiently without having to get a computer science degree to do it. I greatly encourage you to leave comments on this blog. Post anonymously if you like but if you have a question or comment I’d really like to hear from you. I’d also like to hear from you on topics that interest you or want to know more about. Suggestions, questions, criticism, and any other feedback is always welcome.
Thanks,
Leo

I am more interested in the "How To" of computers because this is where my time is consumed - teaching some of my friends. If your posts are not going to sound Greek, then I could surely use the help. I will ask them to go directly to your site and find out before they ask me. Thanks Leo!

Hi Henry,
I will be doing some how-to posts shortly. I am currently working on a couple of posts regarding backup. However, it's not a "How-to" in the sense that I will be doing a step-by-step for the user. The backup posts will be an overview of what gets backed up, where it gets backed up, how often, etc... The posts will be in very general terms that apply to all situations. It would be good background reading for users to understand what needs to get done for proper backups.
I would be interested in hearing what kinds of topics you get asked about most. I am always interested in what techs get asked by the average user.
Thanks for commenting.
